Red rash following drinking
3 Answers
When my husband has had a big drinking session he gets a red rash on the cheek under his eyes. If it was a particularly big session the rash doesn't go for almost a week afterwards. The rash normally only appears the day after not during drinking and happens no matter what he drinks i.e gin, or lager, or beer or wine.
I have seen alcoholics with permanent red rashes on their cheeks. Is this a sign of liver/kidney damage or is it nothing to worry about. He is 33 and probably a binger drinker - he often goes 4/5 days without and then has a big session.

Some people don't react at all. Eventually, these capillaries will break - the stress of dilating and constricting will do this - and your man will be left with them as a permenant appearance! They can be treated however, but will return obviously, if he does not stop his bingeing! Prevention is better than cure and he needs to realise that if his face is like this after his sessions, it's probably just the tip of another more internal iceberg... Lecture over!!
