Maybe I should change my ab name but seriously what is it in clowns you are afraid of, is it the face painted ones, what about musical clowns, and anyone remember the road safety clowns shandy and rolo

We had a book fair at our school a cuple of weeks ago, one of the teachers dressed up as Clifford the dog - once I knew he was going to be there, I decided I couldn't possibly help out this time and would be happy to do the financial side of the event!

see, I know the teacher well, I knew he was in the costume, I knew I was safe with all of the children around... there was no way Clifford would head my way and yet... I couldn't do it!! HELP!

Clown phobia is so common it even has a name - Coulrophobia. A famous sufferer is Johnny Depp so you're in good company.

my own memory is being taken to the circus as a treat by my Mum and then being violently sick over everyone when the clowns appeared honking those stupid horns. I also loathe moving babies, or any dummy thing in shop window displays.

That tv show in the 70's 'Animal Qwackers' used to freak me out, so I symapthise with the human-with-animal-head phobia....*shiver* it's just plain wrong!!

Talking about moving babies Cetti, I find those ads where babies are dressed in suits and/or are shown to be talking in adult voices very disturbing. There is one at the moment where a baby is chairing a board meeting and it gives me the shivers!

Gessoo - the toilet roll ad wtith the baby in a suit? It's just not normal - why don't people get this?!

The scariest used to be the Standard Life ad when the baby would talk to his grandad. Agh!

I couldn't think what those ads. were for Natalie. Thanks for the reminder. I don't understand why they are made - they would just turn me off the product they advertise. They are just plain creepy!!

Another confession..I stopped watching Antiques Road Show...too many moving teddy bears and clowny things. Bit like fairgrounds with those horrible faces that open their mouth to catch coins. Nasty, nasty!

I'm not sure what it is. I just know that I've been scared of them ever since I went to the circus as a kid and a clown murdered my dad.

if you dont mind me saying, my dads friend is scared of clowns, all i have to do is show him a pic and he goes mental, not sounding mean or nuthin but i think its funny,

omg - someone else who remembers rolo and shandy!! My friend still sings 'if you're happy and you know it' in a tremulous voice, but we can't remember if it was rolo or shandy that sang it. They used to come to our infant school in Essex, we're 47 and still go on about them!!

My friend and I still sing "if you'r happy and you know it' in tremulous voices in homage to them. They used to come to our infant school in Essex, I didn't know they were world famous (or road safety advocators)
Blimey, Rolo & Shandy........hope you get this after all this time, wonder if they've gone to the big audience in the sky, god bless em and their tartan trousers and big feet!
