see my argh! link below! will explain all!!! vodka helping though! :o)

Yes i did at the time it didn't matter cos selfishly i was having fun. This guy put up with me flirting with other men in clubs , kissing other men , and then going off with his friend .It really knocked him for six . We both ended up with different partners and after 5 years i bumped him to and i actually apologised for how bad i treated him. My regret was the way i hurt him because he was always so loving and giving too me. He never did anything wrong. I always regret that.
I did and tried to soften the blow......won't tell you the outcome.

if a relationship becomes one sided and one partner decides to terminate it, its almost inevitable that if the other partner still has deep feelings then their heart will be 'broken'. it isn't always a deliberate act, and in the long run is probably the kindest thing to do. i dont think there is any way of softening the blow apart from making sure they dont find out from someone else!

anyone who breaks someone's heart in a cruel way, for no apparent reason was obviously not worth knowing in the first place

I did it by being honest and saying 'i love you like a brother, not a lover' and making it clear that I was sure I wouldn't change my mind. I was horrible, but I knew that was the kindest way to do it. Yuk.
yea I broke a few hearts along the way , lets be honest who hasnt .
At the end of the day you have to be in a relationship that is working for both ppl , and if your feeling its not working its best to break it off than keeping it goin for a longer time and you both end up miserable.
Sad old thing to say, But I honestly dont think anyone has ever loved me enough for me to break their heart (cue hankies and violins) ;(
I dont belive that for a second Minxie .
Im sures theres a few x partners out there somwhere with your pic under there pillow , plus they sing barry manilow songs to it at 3 am , weeping like babies.
I doubt it Blyss :(
Yes I had to, she was clinging and following me around so I told her where to go...if you have bad news, just come out with it thats what I say!! None of this beating around the bush business... if you get my meaning!!!
Yeah she cried a bit but what are you gonna do??
trustybeans your at it again, you'll upset these lovely ladies.why dont you stick a slap in there somewhere you'll get more of a reaction
In my experience, most relationships run their course and both parties know when it's over. I've only ended a relationship abruptly once - I'd not found someone else, I just didn't think it was working out. As other people have said, there's no real way to soften the blow, just try to be as pleasant as possible.

It was not good: the woman in question ended up in therapy and her best friend ended up not talking to me (and as she was going out with my best mate, that meant he stopped talking to me too). To this day I feel miserable about it but still don't know what more I could have done.

One thing I did learn: never break up in a public place - you just get stared at by other people in the place, all thinking what a barsteward that bloke is.
I broke up with my first love at 17, after being together for 2 years. I was moving away, he was joining me but once I moved I decided to end things. I was too young and wanted to live my own life. He was a bit older and wanted to settle down, I didnt. I broke up with him by letter (gutless!!) He didnt speak to me for months. 9 years on he is happily married with 2 kids. I have no regrets except that maybe I hurt him, although my letter explained everything it was a very cowardly thing to do.
Also really hurt my current partner when I left him for a few months last year, but everything is great now and it has actually helped our relationship.
