Its not 8 pints but 8 glasses / 2 litres.

8 pints would certainly do me in.

I like water and drink a fair amount but if you really cant stand it try putting fruit juice with it.

Also if the water is ice cold it doesnt get absorbed into the body as well as if it were room temp. So if you only drink a small amount try and make it room temp

You don't have to do it all in one go.!
I'm sure you can add cordial/squash
I have read that it has to be water and other fluids do not count.Although I have also read that they do. Which is it?
I drink tea and often nothing else. Surely if it was true that tea did not count then I would have died of dehydration a long time ago?
used to be only water counted but the 'experts' now say that tea.coffee, cordials etc all count all count but on varying levels, ie coffee and tea are duiretics so make you pee more often. I just keep a large glass of apple cordial by my desk and just keep it topped up all day, I may not drink exactly two litres each day but its got to be close!

i no its not in one go richie lol :oP
Yeah, all in one go. Get a 4pint milk bottle, fill it with water and drink within 30seconds. If you don't do this everyday, you'll die of dehydration!! ;-)

I think its 2 litres a day of room temp water.

I have done this (with difficulity) for a few weeks now and the difference in my skin is amazing. I drink plain filtered water and not much else during the day.

Even after a few days of drinking water when you then taste a fizzy drink or cordial you can really taste the suger and its horrible. I can't stand fizzy drinks any more, they are just all gas and sugar.

Honestly although its hard going I promise you will see many benifits of drinking water.

I have the problem where I forget to drink. I usually make a point of drinking water throughout the day at work as i sit near the water thing, but when I get home most nights i dont have a drink at all as i never feel thirsty and it never occurs to me to have a drink.
I'm the moron who once misheard the '8 glasses a day' as '8 litres a day', and so feel able to give a good guinea pig's report on doing it. I was going to the toilet, literally 15-20 a day, fealt quite sick a lot, and eventually packed it in after about a week thinking that it was a stupid idea. Then somebody told me I'd been drinking 6 litres a day more than was healthy................
I just have a 2 litre bottle on my desk and drink it through the day instead of so many cups of tea. It really does work wonders for your skin and I feel better in myself too. It's worth a good try for a couple of weeks.
I remember back in my first year at uni, one of my friends bet us he could drink five pints of water in five minutes. He did, but he was sick straight after. Just goes to show water isn't always good for you!
I find that its more beneficial to make a pint of water last about an hour, taking small sips. If you neck it in ten minutes it just gets pee'd out as you can process it in large amounts.
8 pints...lol lol.....

It's 2 litres a day that you should aim for, approx 4 pints. Which one glass holds half a pint = 8 glasses.

Just have one glass an hour that you are awake from the moment you wake

As I understand it, this recommendation has been around since the 2nd World War, and has been misinterpreted since.

The recommendation was for a net water intake of 2 litres per day. Your net water intake includes all the water in everything you consume - including food and drinks other than water - but is lessened by diuretics such as coke, coffee and tea (you lose more water than you take in with some drinks).

Unless it's spread out evenly across the whole day, 2 litres of water makes most people a bit uncomfortable in my experience and isn't necessary.

Rather than trying to stick to rules, take not of your body. If your pee's dark and your skin feels tight, you need more water. It should be pretty much clear. If you're peeing a lot or you feel bloated or have headaches, slow down.

Drinking a load of water in one go is not much good. Small, regular amounts, at room temperature are best.

It's easy...one in the morning when you get up. One with breakfast. One mid - morning, one with your lunch - that's half....then one mid afternoon. One when you get home, one with your dinner..then one about an hour later. If you keep a 1.5 or 2 litre bottle with you all day, you can see your progress! Also don't drink too late or you'll be waking up in the middle of the night with kidney pains, from needing the loo!

I just don't get this - where's the pleasure in drinking 'pure' water. Anyway, that stuff which comes out of the tap is full of chemicals and there's no way I'm paying extra for it in bottles when I've already paid my water rates ! I always start the day with a nice big mug of coffee and manage about another 7 or 8 before I go home from work. At home its 2 or 3 mugs of tea and then either a bottle of wine or a couple of pints of beer with tea - and a bit after - and a mug of tea or two before bedtime. Given that most drinks are over 99% water, then I reckon I'm gettng at least the regulation eight pints - and I enjoy it too. :-)
when i was in the fire service they were big on re-hydration - to the point whereby they had a 'pee chart' on every urinal going with the various shades of green from olive to pretty much clear - you had to be between a certain two shades. Anyway, the slogan was 'Drink before you are thirsty'
I know plenty of fellers who drink 8 pints of lager every day (and more at the weekend!) and they seem to do it quite easily - then again they dont look that healthy!
