Is available in most Boots. I think I passed after about 20 or so lessons although I failed my first test only for bumping the kerb! Just take your time. I always used to disagree with the people that said passing 2nd time makes you a better driver but I know now it's true. In the couplde of weeks between my 1st and 2nd test I was much more confident.
Good luck with it all, it's well worth it!!
Personally i think the way to stay calm is to just take your time with your driving.and you will find that the more lessons you have and as your confidence builds the panicky feeling will subside.
As for actually passing your test,i didn't pass until my fourth test,so even if you do fail any tests it is not the end of the world...and most of all stick with it...it is well worth it in the end
I think a lot of it is to do with the way you think about it.....I,too,was really worried about taking my test then someone said that what they needed to know was that you were safe to let out onto the roads!! That changed my thinking as I has been thinking that they were looking for reasons to fail me.......I passed first time but my friend took nine times but did not give up and she loves driving now!!!!
I know it's easy to say just stay calm, but it really will help if you just take your time, you're not in any rush to pass (mind you I know the lessons are expensive!)! I passed my test about years ago, and I still get panicky when I drive with my Husband in the car, it's like I fear he's judging my driving skills, but he's not really, it's just my imagination. It will all just fall into place and feel so natural, just give it time. Good luck!
Don't worry! some people take to it really quickly, and others just take abit longer to feel more relaxed and confident whilst driving. I was very nervous on my first few lessons, but gradually as I had more I just felt like I knew what I was doing, and so didn't panic so much. Practicing in between lessons if it is possible I think is one of the most important things - the more experience you can get just being out there driving really does help.
I passed on my second attempt - first test I failed for slowing a moped down (which was speeding anyway grrrr) after pulling out from stopping at the side of the road. Second time round I felt more confident and only got 1 minor for hesitating slightly at a roundabout. I changed instructors twice - first one was useless, second one was a really really nasty man, third one was really nice - with the second one I felt really nervous and dreaded lessons - are you comfortable and happy with your instructor?
I agree with UKblike04 about taking your time with it, and sticking with it! Good luck!
Oh and make sure you've got a good instrcutor. I made the mistake of sticking with some dobber for a week's intensive course, and he was awful. The next guy I went with (at BSM) was absolutely amazing and just his voice made me stop panicking.
In total it took me 2 months to pass - 1 week intensive, 3 weeks break, and 1 month of 2 lessons a week.
p.s GOOD LUCK! :-)
p.p.s The best drivers pass SECOND time around ;-P
