My cat has this nasty condition from time to time. He has one capsule of Cystaid a day as a preventative measure, and drinks plenty of water. Does anyone have any useful advice, please ?

Hi

My grandmas female cat suffers really bad from this condition. The vet told her to cut out dried food and give food with gravy and add a little water also and use a certain cat liteer (she use Catsan I think). Apparently this occurs when the cats feels stressed. You can buy these plug ins that lets out an aroma thats supposed to distress the cat. My Grandmas cat has to be on tablets for the rest of her life, I think she is going to take her for a scan if she gets any worse as when she starts with the cystitis she pees everywhere including on her bed and furniture and being 81 she cant cope. Hope this helps.

My sisters dog suffers from cystitis alot she gives her cranberry capsuals to help prevent it. it seems to work.

Thanks. I'll try all these suggestions.
my cat suffers from this and we give him a fraction (about an 1/6th for a large cat) of a human vitamin C tablet when we first see the signs. one dose usually clears it up but 3 at the most. he's 11 now and we've done this for years as he gets a couple of infections per year. our vet told us (years ago) to keep an eye on bladder infections in male cats as they get older because it can be the sign of something really serious. vit c means no drugs or stressful visits to the vet.
