Where are all the nice guys?
Me and my friend have both decided that we need to meet and make new friends as we are both so sick of the usual crowd of young annoying drunk guys in our town. The same old crowd that goes out at the weekend and the same old drunks you get trying to chat you up.
We want to meet older mature guys. Ones who aren't into a weekly p!ss up with the lads in the local club. But... apart from wine bars and the golf club we can't think of where to find these potentially perfect older mature men! Any ideas?
We have decided to go to some of the nice wine bars in the area and maybe to try and go on a day we know that the football is on. If they are in the wine bar and not watching the football then thats good enough for me! Lol

Wardy - You won my heart along time ago hunny ;o)
Jon, Alright alright.. I will come with you. God.. its only a measly ticket from Ebay! Lol ;o)
Polly I know what you mean. I met a couple of them lately and wasn't until the end of the night you find out they are married! I met them in the pub but they sent wine to our table and seemed nice. Looks can be decieving.. damn!
Bob - I'm sure you aren't that bad.. Lol. What do you mean about the smoke?
Perhaps you need to start frequenting some completely different places. Going to evening classes to learn a new language perhaps? And if you join up a carpentry or car maintenance class there are bound to be more fellows than girls there. What about volunteering for one of your local charities - your library is bound to have details? They may also have details of Book Reading groups if yourenjoy reading. Possibly a lot of decent guys have given pubs and wine bars a miss these days because they've grown out of the weekly "p*ss up" stage, and settled down. Are you interested in politics? If you are, check out your local Young Conservatives, Young Socialists, Young Liberals, or join the Green Party and possibly meet up with some young people who take life more seriously.
Time for researching some completely different locations and activities I think.
- Joining an evening class to learn a new language? Car maintenance classes and carpentry will probably have more men than women.
- How about volunteering for a charity one night a week. Your local library will probably have details of local charities. If you like reading, they might also run a Book Reading group. See what's advertised on their notice board.
- Are you interested in politics? Young Conservatives, Young Liberals, the Green Party all probably have younger groups who also organise social activities.
- Look in your local paper to see if any local groups such as the Ramblers Association have regular meetings. Be prepared to try something different. Learn to play tennis, badminton. Join a drama group.
You'll probably find that all the mature guys have outgrown pubs and wine bars and have moved on to more interesting pursuits.
Wendy, they must be somewhere coz they aren't in the pubs and clubs. I wouldn't mind tennis. I would LOVE to join the drama group. Thats definately an option for me.
Ray - You don't fancy sending them my way do you? :o).. Seriously.
We are having a guy shortage in my area. They are all early 20 something immature, Lynx wearing, kn0bs with their shirts and their jeans and their shoes and their hair all over the place!
