Looking for some advice on an effective diet and workout for the next 5 weeks to tone up and lose some weight for holidays, I am trying to work out 5 times per week, approximately half hour each session. I am also trying to eat no more that 1400 calories per day. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated, save me being that beached whale on the sunny sands of Florida!

Well I am trying to avoid being the beached whale on the sands of the South of France but its a struggle.

I am doing lots of walking, I don't have a gym near, my husband is working away and I have 3 children so walking is the only thing I can manage at the moment.

I bought a trampoline a few weeks back and use that every night (well ok every other night) now you would not believe how effective a trampoline can be and only 20 from Argos.

As for the food, well I just have a breakfast, drink lots of water, a light lunch and a tin of soup for evening meal and I am desperatly trying to avoid all the sweets and crisps that are my downfall.

Make sure you do eat breakfast as its v important and then I just find it easier to eat less and less as the day goes on. Not easy though when doing the childrens tea.

Good Luck.

How long do you use the trampoline for willspal and what is it effective for? sounds like a good idea!

Tracy i have just started doing ten minutes in a morning of claire sweeney weight watchers for my legs and will build up to more when i've done a few sessions of that, i find ten mins is easy to fit in to the day! i need to get rid of the cellulite before August! aaaggh!
tracey I would suggest that you work out every other day, and do so for at least an hour. Concentrate on treadmill running, cycling, and rowing, and do enough to actually get you puffed and your pulse elevated. As willspal has said, dont skip breakfast, but make sure you fill up with filling starchy foods, cereals are good, but beware of the ones coated in sugar, (difficult). Eat one good meal a day, plus a light lunch and some fruit inbetween, Im sure you know whats healthy and what to avoid, and make sure you drink plenty of water. Cut back on the booze, (16 spoonfuls of sugar in a pint of lager!). The sad truth is that five weeks is not really enough time to make a serious difference, but you can make a start, and please dont do it just for your holiday, consider keeping to your healthier lifestyle when you get back too!
hiya. i want to get in shape for summer too so have been eating better in general less crap more healthy stuff which seems to be helping. i've also started doing the charlie brooks dvd (janine from eastenders) it's fantastic!!!! i do it 3 times a week each session lasts 50 mins, i'm toning up really quick and have lost 10lb!! (in 4 weeks) this definately works for me.

Thanks for all your help, I have been sticking to healthy eating for a long time and lost 2 stone but as I'm sure you all know you fall off the wagon every now and again, I like the trampoline idea I might invest in one of these (more crap for the spare bedroom)!!

Janine's workout sounds good to me, I had heard that from someone else actually.......just want to tone up those wobbly bits a wee bit....hopefully I can do it..an hour in the gym is a bit much for me to manage as I got at 6:30 in the morning and have to be at work by 8ish, I do try for 30 - 40 minutes, 20 minutes on the cross trainer, 100 sit ups and some weights for my bingo wings

Good luck to everyone else in the same boat, I'm sure we'll all get there.
