I just wondered, why do some women get very very painful periods and some dont have any pain at all? What actually causes the pain,as all womens insides are generally the same, but some women seem to go through the monthly cycle with no problems.

I have never really had them. I sometimes get a slight twinge in my ovaries when I am due on but other than that, not much at all. Weird!

I dunno kazzianne I guess it's the same with childbirth ~ some suffer the pain worse than others!

Mind you, I have always had very painful periods ~ not heavy, just blimmin painful. When I had my babies each midwife commented on my high pain threshold. They reckoned I could cope with pain really easily..work that one out!

wierd isnt it! Mine used to be pain-free and now they are awful!
I've had painful periods since I very first started. When I went on the pill they said it would help, but now it's just concentrated into a few days, but worse pain!! Nothing I can do helps it, but I've got used to it now and just get through it!! It's horrible though, makes you feel really horrible, uncomfortable and downright rubbish!! I really sympathise with you on this kazzianne!!

mine actually feel like minor contractions, they are so bad.And they make me downright miserable for a few days - you're right ktlou.
I often have to stay off from University because the pain is so bad.I feel sick and sometimes even faint. However the pain always goes after the first 24 hours. The pain is cause when the womb contracts.
I'm one of the lucky ones and always have been. had two wicked labours though, very long and very painful!!!
Hey Kazzianne, Im not sure enough about why some woman go through more pain then others.. But I can tell you that Im like you.. I go through soooo much pain just before and during my period.. I cant even run for about 2-3 days because of the pain and insane amount of bleeding.. But one thing I have noticed is that since I have been getting into Yoga for about a year now, the pain as been lessening... Taking vitamin B6 and drinking lots of water also helps with pain/cramping and water retention.

Not so much pain, but they are heavier and longer as I get older, the PMT is worsening though. Move all knifes and chocolate and provide large amounts of tissues.

Honestly cannot function every month until I have a good cry for no reason at all!!!

I get them bad too usually the first two days I have a hot water bottle permanently attached to my back ! And Im on the pill too doesnt make it any better. Im convinced women would be ruling the world if we didnt have hormones to deal with once a month. I go a bit stir crazy just like madham hide the dairy milk and kitchen knives !!
I used to get really bad pains but since being on the pill they have got much much better. I have heard that a sugary diet can make pains worse but not sure how much truth is in that Chamomile tea is good for belly aches & period pains, and so is sitting on the sofa upside down, with your legs in the air! But dont try sitting upside down & drinking tea at the same time could cause a painful accident!
