pear drops

strange question i know but ive been eating pear drops today and after each one i have uncontrolable coughing fits. Anyone know why this is?

I have no idea ~ but it happens to me too..mind you, I believe it happens with other boiled sweets too so may have something to do with excess saliva being produced which could be making you choke?

Just a theory..right or wrong, I would love to know too!

Arent pear drops also know as "cough drops" or am I thinking of something else? I have no idea why they make you cough though - sorry, not much help really am I lol xx

Ah, I immediately thought of my dear Mum who used to buy pear drops. She always had some in her coat pocket & we'd suck them walking around the shops!Happy days!

Anyway, I don't remember any of us having coughing fits on/after eating them.

teamcool - I always cough like mad after eating pear drops and have done since being a kid - my sister always used to laugh at me for it. Don't know why it happens tho !
