Is it true that if you beat someone with an orange, it doesn't leave any bruises?

I don't think oranges bruise as a rule, so you should be safe enough.

My great, great grandmother, many years ago told me that as schoolgirls they would put orange juice on their hands if they were going to be caned as it splits the cane. Never quite believed it tho.
