I have a friend that has a mobile phone from 4 years ago, he won't change his mobile and i think he looks sad! I believe this is a massive turn off to ladies, what do you think guys/gals?

At the end of the day, a phone is needed to phone and text people, anything else is a luxury (and an often unnecessary one in my opinion), I find it very sad when people have to see their phones as a fashion statement.
No, no way would that be a turn-off to ladies. If it is a particularly good-quality reliable model, like the Nokia 6310i, then it might be a turn on for the ladies to know the he is sensibly rooted in real values instead of being influenced by silly things like fashion. It won't be a turn-off to ladies, but it might have that effect on slags and sluts. You know - the sort of fashion-victim, drop-their-knickers-for-anyone let-down to the female half of the human race. It seems that carrying an old mobile could be a way of filtering out the ladies worth bothering with from the sluts best avoided.
Some people are materialistic, some are not.
I personally am, but would never consider someone "sad" for having an old mobile phone (or anything else for that matter)
What is "old" anyway? I'm sure your friends mobile phone functions perfectly well even in its advanced age!
Maybe i'm "sad" for spending my hard earned money on new stuff i don't need?, only feel i need because "fashion" dictates.
What a silly world we live in!

ahh yes my apologies - i had thought mwhaley had posted as mwhaley only minutes before he posted as his wife, then back to him again - all within a few minutes - but the first one was a few hours before.
mycats - i don't even think i can remember what my password is! lol
i would also say that in few years all these old phones will become 'in' again as they will be 'retro'...;o)

I've had my BT Phillips Cellnet since 1996 until a month ago when it quite literally died, it was quite a talking point. I only have a mobile phone in case of emergencies - I believe that to be the only reason to own one. I think they're an embarrassment. I certainly wouldn't be seen dead using one in public. How can anyone in their right mind judge a person by the type of mobile phone they own - it beggars belief. I would rather not own a mobile phone at all than be the type of spiky mulletted pratt braying into one at the top of their voice on a crowded bus. Sad, sad! I'm very disappointed that there are people out there who lay such emphasis on something so tacky and ridiculous. God help us all.
Give me an old Nokia 6210 any day.
Mono, no camera but a battery life to die for.
I used go to Canada for a week at a time and it never needed a charge plus it worked beautifully at -46c with a 20 mile an hour gale blowing!
My son "Persuaded" me into getting a new Razor and has now pinched the 3 year old Nokia.
Now that is sad!
