no its not true.
it is simply that they use a different part of their brains, more than righties, and as there are relatively few lefties it can come across as unusual intelligence but its actually linked to autism, aspergers etc

have you tryed this bear with me it might take a while to explain:
if you hold your finger aprox 9 ins from your nose and blink wth one eye your finger will move from side to side then try with the other eye,
