I want a new bathroom and he wants to spend our only spare money on a holiday. We are rowing over it. What would you do if this was your dilemma?

Hi Dollie
The same thing is currently happening in our household. As a family with young kids, we have never ever been able to afford a holiday. I feel bad that our kids haven't been away esp when their friends are going on about where their going for theirs.
Every year my husband has said about a holiday and desperatly wanting to get away, he has health problems and the break would do us all good. The thing is I feel the money could be better spent elsewhere rather than going away for a week, spending more than we can afford and being in debt when we get back.
We see friends of ours never having any time together because they are constantly working overtime to pay for 2 weeks away, then when they get away they don't get on because they aren't used to being around each other so much. We're the exact opposite, we can't do overtime in our jobs, so weekends and evenings are spent together as a family.
I desperatly want a holiday now as well tho, so we are really cutting back and saving hard so we can hopefully go away next year as I feel we deserve one after all these years of not having one.
Couldn't you get the new bathroom, then carry on saving hard hopefully to go away later in the year or by next year you will have saved even more money?
Sorry for the long post.
