I can't stand cucumbers!!! There is a taste to 'em and it's bl00dy vile!

Poisonous green bu88ers they are.

There, now I've had a rant, I'll go look see if there's any websites- lol.
My mother wouldn't eat cucumber because she said it repeated on her. I think this used to be quite common but they have "bred" this out of them.
Now this is really interesting - I love cucumber and could eat it all day long but some of my friends absolutely hate it. Maybe it's a bit like marmite (I hate the stuff but others love it) or msg (monosodium glutamate - I detest it, it makes me feel sick and so I can't abide chinese food with it in, but other friends are virtually addicted to the stuff and can have chinese takeaways and pringles and other snack foods with msg in).
I don't like cucumber either.
I was told that if you don't like it you will not like melon either.
That is very true for me too!
Anyone else?
Hey Zeddy - the friend of mine who hates cucumber also detests melon - so I think you are on to something here :)
I'll 'tolerate' cucumber if the skin is off and the seeds are gone.

And Zeddy ... I don't like melon either ...
i love melon but can't stand cucumber!
My other half hates cucumber but loves melon :o)

I am sure that melon and cucumber are closely related, and I have to say I hate BOTH of them.Disgusting texture and smell.
I read somewhere that there is a chemical in both marzipan and brussels sprouts that only people with super sensitive taste buds can detect, apparently if you don't like the taste of either then it means your taste buds are more sensitive than usual. I like both so mine mustn't be great! Might be the same for cucumber, im not sure but just an idea!
Could be true gecko, I can't stand marzipan, sprouts or cucumber! (but love melon)
Crikey...you lot are a fussy bunch !!!!

Cucumber is the food of gods. Delicious cheese, cucumber and salad cream sarnies in the summer....Mmmmm.

I can eat it on it's own too....just cut a chunk and munch away
mmmmmm.... cucumber, finely sliced, in white vinegar, a bit of sugar and curly leafed parsley.... delicious....

and how can you resist salmon and cucumber sandwiches eh?... eh?.....

BTW apparently taste sensitive individuals can sense PHENYLTHIOCARBAMIDE in cucumber.
I like melons ( . )( . ) ;)
Enjoy most foods, very lucky that there is only a limited dislike of any.

The only one I cannot eat is marzipan, or almond paste in danish pastries, and yet enjoy almonds!

Cucumber with black pepper and vinegar - delicious.

I like all the other foods mentioned.
I'm not too keen on cucumber, will eat it with other food like in a sandwich, as long as its cut very thin. I hate melon, marzipan and brussel srouts! Though I've realised I'm quite fussy, as I don't like alot of things...
cucumbers, melon and tomatoes, can't stand them, but dont mind tomatoes on pizzas or cooked, or chilled cucumber soup, its the acid in them i can taste,
Hate marzipan but love sprouts!!!! it's the texture of marzipan rather than the taste. I hate anything that sticks to the roof of my mouth eg lenils, pulses, humous etc!
Love cucumber, hate melon!

(Because you all needed to know that...)
