aaaarrrgghh!! im melting here at work!! what temperature does it have to be before they will send u home! i doubt its hot enuff just wishful thinking i guess!! xxxx

i give up turboped. i only came on to ask if there was a legal temperature at which u should get sent home! to be quite honest i couldnt really give a toss if i get paid or not i would rather be sat at home in my garden sun bathing. if someone is gonna pay me to do that brilliant if not then i really dont care.

I have to admit turboped has a very good point. How would people feel if they did get sent home, fully paid, however on their way home found that shopworkers, barstaff, garage staff, busdrivers etc, had also been given time off due to the self same heat and everywhere was closed? Would that be ok?

it was just a simple question i really wasnt expecting it to get in to a serious debate or anything jus wondered if there was an actual temperature at which it is considered too hot to work that is all

I wasn't having a dig mimi, it was just a theoretical question to follow on what had been said, and it certainly wasn't aimed at anyone, least of all you.
Having worked in offices for a large part of my working life, the only other places being kitchens and holiday resorts, I can fully understand where you're coming from!

When I was a chef I used to get a nice clean tea towel and run it under the cold tap, wring it out and wrap it around my neck. It was the only thing that helped, though you do get a soggy collar ;o)

cant really do that i work in a school and im wearin a white vest i dont think it would be very appropriate for me as id look like someone whos just walked out of a wet t-shirt competition!! lol! thanks for the tip tho!

i know i feel a bit pathetic whining on about how i dont have a fan or blinds in my office! Imagine those poor people working in that heat!! it must be awful!! i wouldnt last two seconds!! x
