We've just been reading from someone below about how they have bullied someone with BO in their office. Can anyone tell me why then we have to put up with the far worst smell of smokers all day long and that seems to be fine? I don't mean actually smoking in the office I mean just sitting there, being a smoker, means that the stench is disgusting. As we know they all constantly smell like an ash tray and yet one plonker below gets in a tizzy over a bit of BO, weird!

I don't see where anybody got bullied in the thread below it was all her own fault and I thought the situation was handle perfectly, being a smoker myself whats your problem we can't smoke in the office so we don't offend anybody else.

Its moaning people like you that got smoking banned in the first place I bet you don't mind all the money we spend on Tax.

If you talk about bullying isn't that what the goverment is doing by tell us we can't smoke.

Thanks Ward, I just cannot comprehend how they don't know how bad they smell, whether they are actually smoking or not. Perhaps they don't care!

The point is batty, you stink too! even though you are not actually smoking in the office, those of us with a sense of smell can still smell you, worse than BO I can tell you. I'm glad it's banned in most offices and I yearn for the day it's banned all public places so inconsiderate smelly arrogant idiots like you will have to go outside.

Carry on smoking and carry paying that tax, just stay away from me. You cost as much as you pay anyway.
we cost no where near what we pay. do the maths yourself.
4 tax per packet. a conservative 10 million packets per day. thats 40 million a day in tax.A DAY!! thats a hell of a lot more than the NHS ever sees. so where does it go seeing as your such a fountain of knowledge.
I cant wait for england to get the smoking ban in pubs and clubs. i'm living in dublin and its been a huge success over here no smelly clothes at the end of the night after going out. all smokers go outside for a ciggy.i feel smoking smell is far worse than BO. People who smoke may have bad BO aswell but the smell of fag ash masks it so people dont say anything???

Well Stevie I try but I expect you'll just poo poo it because you need to defend your habit.

The revenue from smoking is approx 8 Billion, the direct health treatment is approx 2 Billion that only includes things that are directly attributable to smoking. There are a myriad of other things that are side effects of smoking but none the less cost money, not necessarily just in health.

I could give you a more thourough answer but we both know you are intransigent and I can't be bothered. It is estimated that smoking costs far more than it brings in when all aspects are considered.
i think that everyone dislikes some smell for me its my ex motherinlaws homemade soup its sooooo rank and i smoke but hate the smell of cigars too so can understand that not everyone wants to inhale my habit i usually think of it as responsible smoking and do it away from others that do not like it
can't stand smokers, selfish T*****s all of them.

Still carry on smoking, at least it will shortern your life expectancy, so things ain't that bad i suspose
not sure what kind of calculator you use loosehead, or where you get the figure of 8billion from. just done a quick bit of maths and 40m a day works out at around 14,600,000,000 to me.
i dont even try to defend my habit mate. i know how horrible it is. just dont like people spouting on with incorrect numbers. a packet of ciggies is half the price in spain, and as someone who owns property across there and uses their health system, it is nearly on a par with ours.
my problem is the lack of openness within the govt as to where the high taxes (not just on cigarettes but on commodities such as petrol, inheritance etc.) goes.
my g/f works for the NHS smoking direct and she tells me catagorically that the funding doesnt go to them.

if i upset you with my closing remarks b4 i sincerely apologise.
I used to be a smoker. Funnily enough I couldn't stand the smell of 2nd hand smoke ~ after a night out I would come home to my fresh smelling house (I NEVER smoked in the house) and would feel sick at the stench of me.

I agree, it smells far worse than regular BO.

Goodness knows why I smoked for so long. I am glad I quit!

You figures are wrong, your arithmetic is right , there may be 10 million pack a day but the revenue varies depending on the source, quite a lot of bootlegging etc.

Anyway I wasn't trying to start a debate about tax, I was talking about the smell, not just while actually smoking either.
i considered the bootlegging, thats why i quoted a conservative figure.
anyhoo, opinions are like ar5eholes, everyone has them.
on the smell point i agree with you. still love em though.
laurence y dont u shut up that was such a horrid thing to say im not a smoker but i have loved ones who smoked and passed away maybe u'll get run over tomorrow and that will shorten your life expectency
havinmysay, well you,ve said to much, and don't tell me to shut up, its people like you who **** me big time, if your loves ones smoked and past away because of smoking, its called self inflicted, smokers are a strain on the NHS and have NO RESPECT for non-smokers, as for your comment on me getting run over {your wish} well if it happened it would be one of thoses things ie wrong place at the wrong time, but you are obviously failling to grasp the difference between smokers {self inflicted} and someone getting run over {accidental or careless driving} I suspose when the smoking ban comes into force next summer {hooray} your be the type having ago at the goverment about civil rights, not thinking for one moment that children have no civil rights at home when parents are happily smoking away indoors and the children are inhaling this sh1t, try doing something positive if your so upset about your loved ones who smoked and passed away, and tell people {children included, how bad smoking is, and what the ultimate penalty is {Death}
God don't forget drinking, and drugs and being fat and eating pies whilst playing football, shaving with a scythe, tackling a hoodie, defending your property against a burglar, and ASDA on a saturday morning. that's a choice also. lol :-)
And you will stink after all that! lol
especially the ASDA trip. oh my, was in there 2day, still recovering.
