I spend about 2 hrs a day surfing the net or walking round the different dept in my building talking to my mates (holding a piece of paper so I look like I'm doing something very important - obviously). Am I bad or is this about average. Also do you feel guilty as I don't.

Im on here a lot of the time but I can multitask and i am the boss. Not sure id let an employee do the same though but as long as the work gets done then theres no harm it it.
In an 8 hour day I'm probably slacking for about the same to be honest, with the worst times being
9.00am - 9.30am. Got to get myself sorted for tea and biscuits, check my e-mails etc.
12.30pm - 1pm. Well, it's nearly lunch isn't it. No point starting anything new when I'll be taking a break in 1/2 hour
4pm - 5pm. Only an hour til home. Must have done loads of work today so I can let myself off for the last hour. ;-)
I drive trains no more than 2 in every 12 months, so obviously got a bit of social time to myself
are you me Mr Tall, i do the thing with the paper aswell, also hide in IT whenever i can eating biscuits and playing games!
2? laurence is british rail getting better now its privatised then? :)
How are you? didnt want to post on the other anymore. great to see everyone else twigged eventually. They probably didnt see the post the other day asking how lesbains (lol) have sex. it got pulled almost immediately.
sorry Mr Tall for chatting on your thread.
I'm just very good at looking busy. I do feel a bit guilty being a slacker but then, I do also get my work done fairly quickly when I need to look like I've being productive.... I think I'm actually a bit worse than you Mr Tall.

Nick, how you doing hun? I shall try and sychronise with your slacking in future!
I'm not on here for hours at a time, I just have it open and look when I can. If I get all the important stuff done I will just surf the net the rest of the day. That's why my filing is near enough reaching the ceiling!
do you work in an open plan office?
Yes 2 Redcrx, I'm a H&S rep as well so a good deal of working from home, tho Train drivers are on a 4 day week {35 hours}.

i'm fine thanx, how are you?

Sorry Mr Tall for the hijack
Mr Tall, you are the first person ever to admit to that - I never had the b@lls to confess that that is how I have spent most of my working life! Lol

excuse me: red, it has now posted on suggs - and although this has recently happened to me, will not post an answer!!

iii xxx
Good thanks China my darling. I appear to be cutting further into my working schedule with an extended 15 minute AB session after lunch, making me even lazier than usual. I finally agree with my directors who said to me in an e-mail last week "If you ever have aspirations of becoming the senior manager of this company, you're going about it in the wrong way". Oo er. How about you?
I'm ok babe, had a few meeting/presentation type things to do this morning to very important people (ahem) for which I had done an extensive ten minute preparation plan but I seemed to blag it ok... well, I just let them talk! Fortunately I have no asperations and plan to get through life on a wing and a prayer!

And I believe the mutant bug has now left my room, (if I haven't told you about that pop over to A&N) which is a bonus.

Sorry for the hijack Mr Tall!!!
going the wrong way Nick? Have you thought about turning your desk around to at least show your going in the right direction?
owzat, good for you. emailing the technical peeps on AB is the best way to let them know of technical problems.
Supernick, did you ever send your teddy on its travels?
sorry Mr Tall, now i must finish this report its due in by 3......maybe i'll go for a wander so they can't find me instead
Good one redcrx. I'll get on the case straight away. Although I am in the privilged position at the moment of having a desk where nobody can see my screen. Yurning it round might expose me to more fire from the dragons.

China - Stick them on Powerpoint with a couple of funky designs and most managers will be dribbling into their skinny lattes. Mine are impressed if I can put something in itallics.

Mccfluff - It's shamefully still on my desk at home while I forget and forget and forget to by some string to tie the d**m label on. I swear that you've embarrassed me into action now. It will go this week.
I am a terrible slacker!! An ab addict!! Am on here now, listening to my MP3 player and chatting on msn to my mate who is travelling the world and is currently in an internet cafe somewhere in between Thailand and Vietnam!!!! And in between all that, I am doing some work!!!!!

I asked for a pay rise recently and was told in no uncertain terms that I wouldn't be getting one as it is already reflected in my status and pay.
Power point? Italics... Nick, that sounds too much like hard work, I only come here to use the internet ;0)

And get your teddy sorted. I've been waiting for it to come this way for ages now!

Mr Tall.... have you tried suggesting that if they paid you more then perhaps you might be more motivated to work? I think I'll be suggesting that at my next appraisal.
Oh dont get me started on this subject! I know i'm a newbie but oh my gosh! I slack i admit it but only a max of 30 mins a day! I sit at my desk and see people playing games, on pointless websites, then saying they are too busy to do something. I'm the first to admit if i'm slacking but boy some are terrible
Is this part of your 30 mins then girly ;0)
