iv put this in the money and finance section but havnt got many answers!
i am an office clerk but also deal with the accounts at work on sage, im 17 years old and i get paid 109.20 per week thats with tax taken of and N.I taken of i work 38 hours a week! is this about the right amount of money i should be getting for my age??

p.s my pregnacy is going fine no cravings for vic anymore. iv left college for a year just so i can earn some money for when the baby is born the due date is 13th december!

yes it is normal, my sons GF is on �3.75 ph and earns �142.50 a week for 38 hours. She is 17 and because she is a full time student she does not have to pay tax

Forgive me but a quick calculation would suggest that equals up to about �5000 a year, are you part time?

If a part-time office clerk (and this would depend on your duties) then it's about right to be honest. It depends what you do in accounts if it should be more, if you have to have a particular qualification then I would ask for more but if it is a standard level of education required then it's still not far off for someone who is part time.

If however you are a full time worker then I really think that you should get more than that. I believe that here even the most unqualified (not suggesting you are) admin staff tend to be paid between �10,000 & �12,000 a year.

Really depends what you're doing tho, that's all just a guesstimate! Pleased to hear the pregnancy is going well.

I remember when I was 18 I was on �100 before tax. But I was in training and had just started there. If you are going to be working towards alot more then its worth it but if not maybe look for a better job. Good luck with the baby and all xx

hey there i agree with china doll, �5000 a year doesnt seem much especially for a full time employee.

If you are quite capable of doing office duties, why not get in touch with a recruitment agent, they do permanent and temporary positions and i am sure they pay about �6per hour.

it would be worth giving one a call. just to see what you could earn.

Im afraid that as an office clerk at 17 the wages sound about right hun, although it depends what part of counrty you are in too.

Yep, its about right! I worked in a bar and came out with about �130 a week when i was 18!

No-ones salary sounds so much once you take tax and NI off. Kerry-ann's actual salary is nearer �7500 which is average for her age. That doesn't mean it's fair, but it is average.

Kerry-ann, once you get this years experience under your belt, a nice ref too, you should be able to command a better salary. I hope everything goes great for you and your baby x

once you crack the 18yr old barrier you'l be automatically eligible for the pay hike to the national minimum wage, which is �5.05 an hour (i think, its about that anyway). so there's a few extra quid a week. and a good reference can be priceless.
