As it's bacterial, she would presumbably need antibiotics, but this would in any case make her more disposed to thrush. She may be prone to 2 conditions, therefore. If her doctor prescribes antibiotics, she could ask for a prescription for some thrush pessaries/creams to take at the same time, to ward off the dreaded thrush. Make sure you get yourself treated if she does have thrush, or you'll be passing it back and forth like a ping-pong ball. If she has vaginosis of whatever type, you should not pressure her to have sex, as it'll hurt her very much. Not saying you are doing, but just so you know!
I've just had this, and it cleared completely in seven days. My GP prescribed a set of five syringes, filled with an antibacterial gel, which I had to use internally at bedtime. I've saved the syringes, and after sterilising them I'm now using them to squirt plain yogurt in. I'm also taking acidophilus tablets, from Holland and Barrett. The yogurt leaks the next day, so panty-liners are a good idea.
