Islam/Muslim religion

I would be interested for your opinion.... I am definitely worried that this country will slowly be overtaken by the Muslim religion, helped along by this government never wishing to stand up for it's own Christian and tolerate religion [edited by ABED]. On a recent documentary 22% of Muslims wanted the whole country to be ruled under sharia law!! Why did they come over here if they find us so offensive ...and why don't they return to a country ruled under their favourite law if they feel this way. It really does worry and to a certain extent frighten me, especially after today's news. Anyone put my mind at rest?

Totally agree Le Chat, they are slowly but surely taking over the bloody country! Look at this for a comparison right, there are certain dogs that can mix together and ones that can't, certain other animals that can and can't mix together and I feel that people are like this as well, muslims and british cannot mix. They come over here wanting to change everything of ours to the way things are in their country but if the case of them wanting a better life then why the hell are they wanting to change it to go back to what they were used to? very confusing! My full backing goes to the BNP anyday!

I think you have raised a good question,but in defence of Islam,it is a very peaceful religion,I know you wouldn't think so at the moment, but only the top clerics are going to be able to sort out the fanatics,the scary bit is that a lot of these lunatics are British born,but they have been brain washed into thinking that to kill is ok, a complete contradiction to the Koran, It is also a bit worrying that some of the people that are running the country won't say anything because it might offend, it is a joke, I hope we can live together peacefully,but as you rightly say if they don't like it here,they should go live somewhere else,

Because of uncontrolled immigration, greater birthrate, Christian apathy and collusion by the British Government it is only a matter of time before this country becomes an Islamic state. The fact that Islam is intolerant and oppressive is irrelevant as many nations in the past were subjected to an an equally intolerant and oppressive (at that time) religion called Christianity and had this religion forced upon them.

I feel that the Muslims around the world are far less intellectual than any western country. just for the sheer fact that they believe all the sh*t about when they die they will go to a better place. BO**OCKS!! This is your life here and now, stop with all the anti British bullsh*t and live your lives peacefully (preferably in your own countries). And get some decent clothes! I see all these muslim women in a large shopping centre in my home town, going in the clothes shops, and wonder, what the hell are you buying????

I dont believe in any god and i'll fight whoever tries to impose there "god" on me to the very end.

I watched a show a while back late at night on Channel 4 called Sharia TV in which young muslims were asking the varied clerics about what sharia law has to say about this that and the other.

My conclusion was the the people are trying to adhere to something which simply gets in the way.

I would agree thought that if you want sharia law go to whatever counrtries have it as law.

As a bona fide athesist i genrally feel that religion is simply a tool to control and bend the uneducated masses to your will.

I see your point Le Chat but there are different ways at looking at this issue, it's not all black and white.

In this country we have tremendous freedom to worship where we like, with whom we like - and what god we like. We can even change our religion from Christian to muslim if we wish, but if you are born into the muslim faith that is where you stay - and if you dare change your religion then you are banished from the family - and worse.... But, and it is a big but there are many muslims that love all our Christian celebrations. My husband used to work with some lovely guys whose mantra was " If there's a party, count us in". This is not an isolated case either, there are many like this.

Now, what about us so-called Christians? Are we going to stand by and let councils, and everyone else call Christmas the Winter Festival or Easter the Spring Festival in case it upsets other religions? It doesn't upset me it makes me spitting mad. If Christianity is being eroded then we must take a lot of the blame ourselves. Relying on people like Blair who changes from C of E to Catholic at the drop of a hat is not going to help us. We have to do it ourselves....or else.....

ok, I'm here to be shot down (no pun intended)....but after 7/7 I walked into my local tescos and a muslim woman (or could it be a man??) was in front of me, all in black, covered from head to foot with just a slit to see through. This frightened me for the first time, and I wondered what could be under the clothing. it had never bothered me that way before, but it's been different since then. I've done a little research on islam since then, and something bothers me about it. I read that the koran is written in an ancient language, something like we would consider latin, and the imams teach an interpretation of what is written..ie they give their own view. also from some of the passages in the koran that I've read, it is far from a peaceful religion, and totally intolerant of non-believers, or infidels as they like to call us. (I'm atheist, so I should be ok then..!)

I watched a tv programme the other night about a young muslim who was brought up here and embraced our lifestyle etc(shellsuits (i assume), casual sex, women with little clothes) and now he has grown a beard, converted to Islam and says we treat our women like ****! Islam says that women should be covered up from head to toe so that men dont see them like sex objects.However.... if they stray, they get stoned to death! yeah, they really respect women, right????how daft do they think we are?
