Needles / dentist Phobia - Please help
5 Answers
My Fiance has I think a really bad needle phobia, he thinks he fear the dentist, and when we went last year, after having the jab for the numbing effect he came back in the waiting room looking bad and then as I was talking to him, his eyes rolled and he went--green/white....and had a funny turn...............he's is petrified of the dentist and they have now chucked him out to a place for nervous patients which involves concious sedation.....we are getting (well i hope!) married in mauritus and have been for some jabs after work today, his face worsened as we were in the nurses room together, i got him to the car, and he had the same turn, face drained to a white / green....eyes rolling, eyes bulging, leaning forward and looking at me who he doesn't know who i am or where he is.....then as 15 mins went by he gradually got better..............please ha anyone got this same problem, and can anything be done, we have to go back for the other jabs in 3 week, i'm dreading it for him......not for me i'm fine...?????????????

sorry just joking, i used to suffer with it after a less than gentle dentist, with a large syringe
even now i'm not too keen, but after being tatooed the phobia went, though i still don't like the fear has gone
probably won't help though sorry
how about a hypnotist
though to be honest jabs don't hurt, just a little burning sensation ( tattoo's do!) just get him too look the other way, and hold his hand too take his mind off it, though it sounds like he is having a large panic attack, try ringing the nurse, they surely will have some experiance of this and advice

I have a daughter that has epileptic seizures, but when my Son went to the Dentist the anesthetic triggered a seizure in him as well, he has never had a one before.
What you describe is sounding exactly like a mild seizure and there are many different type of seizures, my daughter has 6 different types, You MUST consult your Doctor before anymore injections,
I don't want to alarm you but this could be very serious if you go ahead with another injection without talking to your Doctor or your Dentist. I'm no expert but I have had a lot of experience in this field.

Thanks for your answers..
Although this time the injection was just a vaccination, the dentist knows about him and thats why he's been referred, the also put in down to fear/adrenaline.....
Getting him down to the dentist was a nightmare, when in even the dentist waiting room he starts to feel faint already and has to go outside and stand out there in fresh air....which has to be fear.......
