i'd ask them to contribute or leave
Book 2 weeks off work, get a collegue to ring up home and get then to ask your maligerer to pass on the message that you are sacked due to down sizing, Then sit on your arse for 2 weeks and see how they like it.
The same as you`d do with an employee who is happy to take your money and do no work...SACK THEM
Alot of men can be like this. lounge at home with the tele zapper in their hand and pretend to be househusbands, get him a jobspaper and get some online job sites up and see if it gets the message thru to him.
don't give them your money
Sorry red, I'll start looking for jobs tomorrow! :op

seriously tho, It's just taking the proverbial when someone sits at home and spends all the money you've worked for every sodding month and then has the cheek to say - " well, I've done the dishes"

confront them, if they're not willing to change then you change...
change your bank account
change the names on the household bills etc
change everything that gives them the right to have access to the money.
And if none of that works then it's time to change the locks!
ultimatum time, tell them to get off there fat chuffer, get a job, start pulling your your weight not your pudden, or do one, don't put up with it, why should you, don't be a mug, Ray
perhaps open separate bank accounts? But it seems more of a communication problem/relationship problem that is manifesting itself as a financial one.

People can be odd though, on a similar note, there is a man my husband works with who has just had a baby. His wife gave up work (or i think she used to work from home as a translater and plans to perhaps pick it up again in the future) to have the child. The man works about 8 in th morning and rarely leaves before 9 at night. They both work in the city for an investment bank. When this chap gets home at about 9.30-1000, she then says that she has been 'stuck indoors being mum' all day and it is his turn to take over. He then does all the night feeds and stays up with the baby while his wife sleeps.

Now I have to say, I'm all for equality, but as my husband works long hours and I am at home and perfectly able to sleep in the day if I've had a bad night, I have never expected him to do night duty. it seems the same for money. A sensibility has to be adhered to. It is not fair to expect someone to do everything and be ataker. Both have to contribute something in some way and be respectful of the other's position.

I hope you manage to sort out your predicament.
