knee problems

Anyone got any advice on home remedies for 'housemaid's knee' ( self diagnosis). I was doing a lot of flooring work a few months ago ( type of work I am not used to ) and my right knee has been giving me bother ever since. It feels tight and painful when I bend it more than half of the normal range of movement - no redness. My GP says it is either arthritis or wear and tear. I feel she is jumping to conclusions with her diagnosis and suspect that I have caused the problem with the aforementioned activity. Any advice or home cures appreciated.

have you tried ibuprofen (if u can take it, I can't myself) if not able to there is a gel form, maybe u have a swelling inside the kneecap, if it was the cartilage I think the doc would have picked up on it.

cod liver oil apparently. I have never used it, but my mum and gran swear by it .
You can take Cod liver oil and Glucosamine but they will take a while to kick in.Try wearing a support on it.Boots do the best ones ..the proper Sports support ..not that thin bandage stuff.
Traxam and Feldene are good over the counter gels to rub in to the knee.
Go back to your GP and insist on an Xray..she cannot see inside your knee !!
You could have done some damage ..if it was bursitis the knee would be inflamed and puffy..

Thanks to you all for your replies - I am going to try the Boots support and cod liver oil for a few weeks and see how that goes.
