Has anybody tried Kalms tablets....
Or can you recommend anything else for me, I am a nervous flyer, I get irritable and palpitations and terrified of turbulance, I am getting married in Mauritus this October and would like something to calm me down and make me feel happier and more relaxed during the flight....?
NO TIME WASTERS PLEASE !!

It is one of my biggest phobias, but hell, if i can get on a plane now (big jumbo jets mind) then anyone can, my first flight was daunting but once you are onboard and in the air there is so much going on that your mind is taking other things in i.e. what the hostesses are doing, the general buzz of people chatting, things are always going on that you dont have time really to think about the flight, movies, music so much to entertain you, you can do this and you will be fine, get on that plane and enjoy being in such a glorious part of the world, i have been to mauritius and loved it - once you have flown you wont regret it! You will get the travel bug.... have a few vodkas before you get on the plane and you'll be fine! Take care and let us know how you get on.
Alcohol - Done it, do it ha ha Telly - No good I just end up thinking if the telly starts to flicker and goes off then I have to worry.. :>(
It about 12 hours isnt it !! Oh god, no Im not that bad, I am a regular traveller but have never done long distance, I feel like s*** for the duration of the flight and on the last one felt rather rough, palps make me feel rough, Is that Bach Remedy any good ??

Yes its a 12 hour flight honey. You will be ok. Personally that Bach remedy didnt do anything for me, I had sleeping pills from the docs and I know your not supposed to but these mixed with a couple of alcholic drinks (even my doc told me to have a couple of drinks on top!) and i felt great! I have been through many long haul flights as I have been to Mauritius, Seychells and Sri Lanka and I am here to tell the tale, the stewardesses will look after you, that is what they are trained for, they really looked after me.....if you can get a seat over the wings if possible, then if you turbulence does happen it wont be so bad. Enjoy it !
My G.P. has prescribed 4 or 5 Diazepam sedatives before now - you take them in the run up to the flight, and then on the day of the flight itself - if your nerves are REALLY bad. If you just want something mild, try Kalms, sleeping tablets, or that Bach Rescue Remedy spray thing - available in most large Boots stores, and some Holland & Barrett outlets.
don't overdo the alcohol or you'll feel like death when you land (it's not just a hangover, the thin air in the planes makes it worse), but I find in moderation gin and temazepam helps me sleep, and sleep would be the best thing for you. 12 hours is quite long.
(It definitely has to be Mauritius, does it? It's a lovely place, but being terrified getting there and back might take some of the pleasure off the honeymoon, which would be a shame.)

things to bear in mind are...
turbulance to a pilot is like waves on the ocean to a sailor (this has been of such comfort to me, i find myself repeating it to myself often on planes!!).
it doesn't just take ONE thing to cause trouble on a flight, it has to be many many things. Delays in flying are more often than not caused by the repairing of faults as there are so many safety checks before a plane gets clearance to fly.
If you are taking Kalms however, I find taking more than the recommended dose is required. I'm not suggesting you do this however... ahem.
Is your flight overnight? If this is the case, then maybe getting drunk and falling asleep is the answer! It's probably not the most sensible suggestion, but being unconcious will seriously limit your panic!
Above all I'd focus on your wedding. Your fiance loves you enough to marry you, so surely wouldn't let you fly unless it was the safest way to travel?! After you've got your taxi to the airport bear in mind that you've survived the most dangerous part of your journey!!
Have a lovely day and congratulations!

If it is your first long haul flight you may find you are more concerned just how uncomfortable the soddin' seats are ...definatly designed by someone who has never sat in one!
I think you will find they take a very dim view on drunken air passengers now-a-days & is not to be recommended.
Your GP may prescribe you a couple of Valium if you ask nicely :)
