walking to my car today when a group of what only could be described as brats on skateboards went flying past this elderly man on the pavement and shunted him causing him to drop his shopping which flew about all over the place, i helped the old bloke and felt like going after the wee runts, have the youth of today no respect or sense of decency at all? they need their backsides kicked hard and i would be first in line, they should be made to join the army, and when are they ever going to go back to school? they seem to have been off forever doing the square root of nothing, god help us if that is our future, arrogant wee ********!

Don't get me started i would have gladly given them a right good yelling at, there is no respect and when they get together they just go daft. i thought these long summer hols were going to stop and be replaced by shorter terms and more breaks, people do need to change their attitude towards these idiots and tell them when enough is enough.

yep attitudes have to change they are running wild, that bloke probably fought in the war so brats like that can exist in peace, i would give them a week off and the rest spent in an army boot camp getting their arses kicked several times a day.

Tend to agree... sat on a bus the other day, old lady gets on struggling to stay on her feet, loads of young muppets in the disabled/elderly seats, not one of them got up for her. I had to come down from the back of the bus and help her back to my seat. Not all young kids are like this but I think it's rotten when I see that, just not on. And I'm 27 for the record. Just think it's good manners at the end of the day, how would they like it if it was their grandparents?

I did not realise that there were people who believed that manners were the sole expectation of the elderley and infirm, I expect manners in any walk of life and i don't expect a lack of tolerence over the efforts of others to highlight the shortcomings of the ill mannered people.

I'd have been after them to give them what for! You're so right tho ducky, it does seem to be the case that so many children have not been told how to behave and show a little respect. I know we've all been kids and we've all done bad things but I also know that I would have been dragged by my ears back to my parents and given a go-alonger for such behaviour.

As mentioned, it's only a few who happen to be like this and it's those few that give the nice kids a bad name.

My mum says 'kids of today have too many rights' and she's right of course, I hear that so many times at work... 'I know my rights, you can't tell me what to do' etc etc.

One more thing.... you're only 29?

it's not the kids to blame for their behaviour (well partially) but the flippin parents! Why are there so many kids on the streets mucking around doing nothing? Why can't parent's 'do' things with their children? My mum used to take us out on walks, and to the park and to the library and we had to go, we were not given a choice right up until about aged 14. We also had to help out round the house and were not allowed just 'out' without somewhere actually to be. She couldn't bear all that time wasting. If we wanted to go skateboarding, she would have taken us to an appropriate place to do so.

Parents can't wait to get their kids out the door. Then they come home and eat on their laps, or worse still up in their rooms. They respect noone and frankly, teaching respect begins in the cradle.

I'm only 30 by the way: retired secondary school teacher...

I have to say tho, I once stood up for an elderly lady (roughly around 75 - 80) on a train and got a mouth full of abuse from her, How dare I suggest she needed the seat more than I! - sometimes being nice gets you into trouble too!

I agree entirely with most of the sentiments here.

However, please don't send them back to school to early. I am a teacher and it gets harder when you are in your 50s. I need my holidays. Perhaps I am the one that needs a zimmer!!
