Is marriage a bit like Stockholm Syndrome, where you become attached and sympathetic with your captor ?

Brilliant theory gerkin!! Ive come up with my own but yours beats mine hands down. Some of my theories include:-

1) Old fashioned views on sex from our parents (girls play with dolls, boys play with cars, girls are shown how to cook, boys are shown how to fix things, girls and boys are told that inevitably they must marry the opposite sex even though they are nothing alike!)
2) Love is Blind (people love to let their hearts rule their heads which is always going to lead to disaster)
3) People want an excuse to throw an expensive party and receive lots of gifts.
If it were there would be fewer divorces and affairs.

marry good think bring not apart from lostness
exactly the reverse, isn't it? Go in attached and sympathetic and then lose it all.
Some people claim that marriage interferes with romance. There's no doubt about it. Anytime you have a romance, your wife is bound to interfere.

Groucho Marx.
I agree with jno, you have it the wrong way round. I love being married. It's great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

Although they do say that marriage is the soul cause of divorce.
