Ive been reading about adults(married or in a longterm relationship too) that have a kinda secret life and become addicted to internet chatrooms, i dont understand what would be appealing or addictive about such places??? just wondered if any ABers have secrets like this and how it all started?

Im sure there are many ABers on here that are using the AB as a way to live a secret life.
why should you understand it. Its an addiction like smoking or drinking or shopping or many other things are to others.
I certainly dont agree with anyone who misleads someone or cheats on a partner but chatting and talking to others around the world causes no harm as such

No I could never fall for anyone on a chat room or on here, you dont know who the people are and half off them could be related. Imagine flirting with someone and it turns out to be your brother!! I have made very good cyber friends though.

I used to love the old style MSN chatrooms, figured it was the only place where I could have a laugh and gently tease folk (and not get my face rearrangedfor doing it) without having to get dressed and leave the house- yes you do have to get dressed to go out your front door, folks give you odd looks otherwise.

They were highly addictive and I can see why it may become a problem in a marriage. A secret life though? I'm too forgetful (and lazy) to do that, I'd trip myself up before it got too far! But again, I can see the attraction.....if ya life's crap, what's wrong with 'spicing' it up with a few porkies?

I can see how it might be addictive/appealing in the same way that if you're at a low ebb and vulnerable anything can be... food, drink, drugs etc... whatever makes you feel good I guess.

I'm in touch with a couple of people on here outside of this forum but have yet to run off and start a secret life with them...

i have many online 'friends' that i have met on various sites. But I would never keep it a secret from my b/f.
