Im getting contact lenses soon, and i was just wondering can i still wear heavy eye make up?

Depends what you mean by heavy. Or are you Alice Cooper?

just some mascara and eyeliner...the usual
but im jsut worried if it starts to flake and it might irritate it or even worse - get stuck behind the lens!

I would recommend using a hypo-allergenic/sensitive make up range - Almay are quite good! I wouldn't go ott with the eye make-up however, just to be on the safe side (bloody painful if you do get anything in your eye whilst wearing lenses!). Having said that I wear lenses and apply eye make-up on a daily basis and haven't had any problems. :o)

i never changed my make up brands and have even worn full goth make up with my contacts and have never had any problems!

if you put thm in before you applay the makeup it should be fine - if you do it after you may accidentlly touch the eyeliner or mascara and get some on the lens
