Just look at the ceiling or the wall and try to ignore whats going on.It really is a doddle! Your imagination can cause havoc too so just try and think of something nice and it will be over in no time.
The only stuff I've ever had done under local is dental work, but some of that has been big stuff that involved the dentist working right into my jawbone.
You feel the initial sting from the anaesthetic needle, and maybe a couple more if they inject on multiple sites, but after that - just some pulling and pushing. Best not to look, either, although if it's in a viewable area, a thoughtful team will put up a shield so you can't see. Sometimes they'll have a radio or some music switched on. I had my op to the strains of Terry Wogan on a Monday morning! That can really help you not to think about things.
You might be a little sore afterwards, once the local wears off, but you can have painkillers for that.
Good luck.

Hi mccfluff, I had a minor op last Wed, had the stiches out today (hurray!), honestly you will not feel any pain, the only way to describe what you'll feel is like, you know when you have shoes on and your foot itches so you try to scratch it thru your shoe, its that sort of feeling !! If youve never done that, try it and you'll get an idea of what i mean. I was a bit nervous too, but it was great-and i could watch what he was doin as well, felt weird that i felt nothing. Hope this helps, Good Luck hope it all goes well.
Hey i just recently had a little op and they numb the area with a local anaesthetic. When they inject the anaesthetic inside my lip it was quite painful. But when they'e carry out the procdure you can't feel a thing at all. I had stitches and I couldn't feel a thing, I could just see them weaving in and out with the needle and thread (whatever you call it) lol. though the anaesthetic did make my lip go swollen, which looked a bit scary lol.
