what specifically is mousey hair?- as it appears to be just "normal hair" and where does the term mousey come from?

the colour? Or if it hangs down rather lankly, does it resemble mouse tails? Is it full of cheese?

I always presumed it meant a shade of brown that was the colour of a mouse, a brown one obviously!

I also thought it referred to colour - sort of a light brown/ dark blonde.
