Watched my mother put up with all that and more at the hands of my alcoholic father, wished she would leave him and thank god, when he began to raise his hands to her, she got out.
I'm a male who has suffered from this abuse from my ex wife although to a small degree. It is every part as distressing and humiliating as male to a Woman, though very different.
Mine came about from my wife being a very volatile Woman, one word or action out of place and suddenly all hell was unleashed, She had drawn blood on many occasions until I left nearly three years ago now.
My problem was I was always afraid that by restraining her she could have got hurt, she went into such a frenzy that you would not restrain her by holding her wrists etc, it could have just caused her injury and the resulting injury is a thing I could not cope with, knowing that it was my hands that had bruised her arms, made her fall over maybe, all manor of things can go wrong when restraining someone.
I would then have to face days of her not speaking to me etc, she would always accuse me of not discussing things with her and when I tried to discuss things, she didn't want to talk about it.
The last time she didn't want to talk about it was enough for me to leave, I packed my bags jumped in my camper van and a few hours later I found myself in a lay by on a French motorway heading for Portugal. I came home the same day lol after talking to my aged Mum and my lovely Sister.
I know have the most caring and delightful partner and love her to bits, so all turned out well in the end.
Men and Women need to make theirselves heard in these situations, mine was a very mild abuse compared to what many Women and Men go through every single day, the emotional damage caused by domestic abuse can often be worse than the physical abuse, either way there is help out there for anybody that needs it.
