Long Distance Relationship
4 Answers
I have been in a LDR for 2 1/2 years now. My fella lives in North Yorkshire and I live in Glasgow. We alternate the drive up and down the road every weekend but this is beginning to take its toll on us both.
Just this week he has been offered a contracting job in Glasgow with more money and more holidays. This would potentially mean seeing him for 2 or 3 months at a time then having no contact for the next 6 months and so on, as he would be based at different depots around the country....
Is it best to leave things as they are or should he grab this opportunity regardless of how its affects our relationship?

If his heart tells him to stay where he is then thats fine, or if it tells him to grab the opportunity then go for it...
It will affect your relationship if you are so used to the situation it is in now... but not neccessarily in a bad way... it may strengthen it (as a quote i read once said "absence is to love like wind is to fire, it extinguishes the small and enkindles the great")...
or in other words whatever happens... if its going to last it will over come anything and everything....
(not that im implying it wont...)
hope it helps x

After 2.5 years you pretty much know what you have got in a relationship. But ask yourself- if he got a permanent job in your town, which meant no more long distance, how would you feel about it? REALLY? And how would he feel if you were offered a transfer to North Yorkshire, so you could live together? Would you rejoyce? Or would you have to have a think? If the latter, then maybe the relationship isn't really going anywhere? I only say this because I was in the same situation. My boyfriend and I only saw each other at weekends, and then he was offered a job in my town, which would have meant a FULL TIME boyfriend! This made me realise that I actually would rather not have him around all the time, and even worse, live together. It was at that point that I knew, although he was a nice boyfriend, he was not THE one for me.
