I can not believe I read that only days after the Australian guy who was killed by the stingray, there are videos circling the net and computer games being created (yesterdays Star). This guy may have been eccentric but maybe that was his way of getting noticed to raise the cash to look after and help what would have turned out to be many dead or extinct animals, god bless his family.

I think a large percentage of the population were waiting for the bait to catch. He lived life on the edge and from what we all saw, He loved every second of it.

it clearly means raising cash in order to stop animals dying or becoming extinct!!

fair enough about the name thing - although a bit of an over the top reaction - but attacking the wording of the post just because you all misread it is lame.

I didn't misread that bit joko but I really saw no reason to post a thread about someone you didn't even know the name of, it was disrespectful and trivialised the intent as far as i could surmise. And fatman didn't just do it once she did it twice, no excuse for that.

Oh It is so sad to see him go. He was such a respected animal studier. I don't think I said that right but all well. I recently was on google and wanted to look at a video that I THOUGHT was the video of him getting stung by the stingray but I was sooooooo wrong. The scariest picture came up that I have ever seen. It scared the poo out of me and I coudn't sleep without seeing that creature in my head.

the Q could have been written about anyone who dies, the fact that on this occasion that it is about steve irwin is irrelevent.

the question is about the fact that many people have created jokes and games and videos about someones death - this happens very often when someone in the public eye dies.

fatmans point is that this happens and its wrong, and perhaps that people think its ok to do this to SI "because he was a bit mad anyway"

if i had heard about this sort of thing happening i would have posted whether i knew his name or not.

however i do take your point that it would have been a bit more respectful and polite to find out the mans name first, but hey, he didn't, theres no need to act like fatman is some kind of insensitive monster...the content and tone of the post, particularly the last sentence, should show you that he's not.

i thought the incorrect attack on the wording of the post, by a number of posters, simply to add fuel to the attack on the fact that no name was given was a bit pointless and looked a bit mean and desperate
