I recently had my Tarot cards read for the first time. I was fascinated as the lady who did them seemed accurate in her statements about my life/family and already a couple of things she told me have come to pass....or have they? Do you think we "make things happen" in light of what we are told? Personally, I believe some people do have a gift but I have colleagues at work who are dismissive. What does everyone else think?

Well you can takes courses in tarot reading, so there is nothing mystical os spiritual about it. They are taught to pick up on your body language and ask specific questions or say certain things to make you react accordingly. I had a reading a few years ago, a few things said were correct, however they were very general and could have related to most people. Don't be totally fooled by it, you know the problems you face already and what is going on in your life, these people just nudge your mind into thinking deeper about it. Good luck.

Thanks for your comments Captain Swab. I know what you mean and I deliberately tried my best to give nothing away. What got me was her naming two family members and very accurately describing ongoing issues in their lives and also her comments regarding my job, which she told me was within the legal profession and she told me I would be very soon embarking on some further study. I wasn't intending to do so at the time but only a few days later I was approached by work and asked to do just that. She also gave me a "message" from my quite recently passed granny which made sense to me. Im just not sure that she could have just been using guesswork and/or my body language !!
I've had my tarot read a few times and only once was it rubbish, equally I read my own and friends, and have found that in most circumstances the cards can be interpreted to mean something.

I tend to find them intresting but would never change my life accordingly.

Saying that a fortune teller told my mother to continue with her pregnancy with me, as she was advised not to, 26 years on here I am
did they give actual names? or just say your sister and cousin or something?
most people have these you see.

also was it a sort of "...sss...ssshhhh...sshheeellllaa....sshhelllyyy... sshhhaaarrraaahhhhsshhhaaarrroonnnn..." guessing game?

or did they say " someone beginning with J...or could be a G... a jjgg sound, could be a CH...no..oh, ok... now i am getting an N, could be an M... etc etc

No she was spooky. As I sat down she asked me how Susan was because she had been unwell with an ailment her mother also suffered from. Susan is my aunt who suffers from depression, as does my granny, her mother. Then she talked about David and described him as being a selfish and quite difficult man who I used to be close to as a child but whom I had found it difficult to relate to in more recent years. She said he had an ailment which made him that way and one or two other things that made sense. David is my dad and he is an alcoholic. There were other things but these are the points relating to names.
