I used to have to do this. It is always a bit frightening. Just a few tips though - Don't speak to the room as in look out over the people's heads. Speak clearly to the people in the room, try not to race through your speech. Be sure you know what you are talking about and if you get stuck, don't panic, make light of it and find your way back. My dad, who was a singer and actor once said to me, - if you get really nervous and are afraid of the many people in the audience, just imagine them naked ... that should make you smile (or even laugh aloud!) and ease the tension a bit'. My dad, who always got a nervous tummy before going on stage, was right! Trouble for him was, in those days when actors walked on stage they often couldn't actually see the audience due to the lighting. So, a good imagination came in hand! Best wishes, hope it all turns out well for you.
