The best thing to do is aerobic exercise, which raises the heartbeat. You should eat regularly and eat non-processed food which will give you energy. Fruit and veg are obviously really important. Try to cook from scratch so you are not consuming hidden fat/salt/sugar which is added to even the "healthy option" foods.
Eat porridge oats for breakfast as they will fill you up for a long time, and are sugar -free so you won't "crash" mid-morning. I eat oat cakes/rice cakes/ nuts/oat bars rather than bread for lunch for the same reason.
But basically, you need to do more exercise and eat less fat in order to lose fat!

Losing weight is not about calorie counting, it is about maintaining a constant blood sugar level and speeding up the metabolism. The weight will fall off you. so you eat slow release good carbohydrates ie porridge oats for breakfast, brown rice, wholewheat pasta, brown bread (if you are not yeast or wheat intolerant), eat with good protein, ie lean chicken, fish, tofu or quinoa. Eat lots of fresh veg, potatoes only every other day if at all. Eat fruit as a snack mid morning and afternoon. Eat oily fish twice a week. Cut out all tea, coffee, alcohol, refined sugar and carbohydrates. Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day. Take a good mineral and vit complex every day and 100mg vit c per day. Combine this with minimum 30 minutes exercise per day and you will lose weight guaranteed. If you want to know more about LOW GL diets get the low GL cook book by Patrick Holford.
I always lose at least half a stone everytime I go out to Africa.
You could spend 700 to go and work for three weeks with disabled children in Kenya.
You would change their lives and eat food unsullied by western preservatives and lose weight. it costs about 5 a day there and the cost of a flight is 400 in January.
Stay 5 weeks and lose over a stone, and you lose your desire for chocolate as you can't get it in Maralal.
This can then start you ready for your new diet of fresh meat and veg when you get back to the UK.

Same old question and same old answers (some good ones but as usual they don't get the stars as they are not what the questioner wants to hear).
I'll try to put ot in simple terms.
If you put more in less than you take out you will lose weight.
All these answers about exercise, nutrients etc are just red herrings.
