as for names::

we have a hamster called Chloe.
have had one in the past called alf.
my friend has a hamster and they have called theirs,
stuart little. (my friends hubby is called stuart!!!)
we bought the place when we first got our one and descovered that due to the maze of tubes you do need a very large surface to support it fully, we took ours back and have this fantastic glow in the dark one.. its amazing!!

I like Roxy for a girl.
As regards to cages - dont make the mistake we made of getting a big flash plastic thing with lots of tubes because ITS A NIGHTMARE TO GET THE HAMSTER OUT to cuddle and hold. It makes them nervous and then bitey.
I would recommend a nice simple cage with a wheel that you can easily just put your hand in and get her out. And a nice wheel that is quiet!!

http://www.petspantry.tv/acatalog/tn_abicage.j pg - this is kind of like my hamsters cage (mines called Seymour).
http://images.solidcactus.com/neeps/code/large /MA-09025.jpg - something like that looks good too.
i cant remember the brand name of my cage, but its about the same size as a bird cage and i just got it from a local pet shop. Try somewhere like a big pet store they usually have a wide range.
The good thing with these cage type homes is that you just unclick the cage part lift it up then all the stuff in the bottom can just be tipped into the bin and then cleaned... where as the ones with all the tubes look very tricky to clean.
