could someone born with webbed hands be allowed to take part as an olympic swimmer?

I should imagine that this will be correctable as a child if not from birth, so i'd say no.

what happened there? it would probably depend on whether they were an Olympic Standard swimmer, it isn't just about hands after all.

Some years ago I taught a little boy who had the misfortune to be born with partial webbed feet. (The skin extended half way up the gap between his toes.) Sadly, he was rubbish at swimming, so no Olympic Gold medals there in the future, methinks!

natural webbing no probs regarding the rules of competition - if it was performance enhancing webbing added later that would break the rules...
my mate with webbed feet was also a rubbish swimmer - i just didn't get it... flipping genetics having a laugh i guess

I also had a friend who's son had webbing between all toes. It seems that this is not so uncommon. Don't know if he was a good swimmer. Unfortunately.

I was born with webbed hands and feet, my hands were seperated when 4 year old, but my feet are still webbed.
Can't swim good though LOL
