obsession with soldiers

I would just like to know why women and girls are obsessed with soldiers and think that being an Army wife is wonderful. Some people will go to great lengths to meet and marry a soldier. Being an Army wife is NOT so great!

firemen for me too!!! lol a lot of my friends are soldiers wives....so no its not for me thanks!!!

I was an army wife, only Germany, it was great!

Loved most of my time there. I have yet to meet a better bunch of people, from troopers to captains!

The 3 month exercises are a bit of a ball's ache though!

I am an army wife in Germany lol and try 6 month exercises!!! Probably just feeling a bit fed up now and didn't mean the question to sound bitchy lol!

There is some truth in the question though - especially the German girls! They will do anything to get with a soldier!

I have dated guys from most sectors of the armed forces, not deliberately hunted them down though. They have all been some of my better dates/boyfriends.

I was in the Parachute Regiment for 25 years, I got married when I came back from the Falklands in '82 and we're still together but I could have had loads of affairs,

I don't think it is just an obsession with soldiers, it' s with anything in a uniform. Trouble is, they take them off. Not the same for me then!

I couldn't even stand being an army girlfriend. Met my ex while he was in the army but wasn;t with him because he was in the army. In the end we couldn't get to spend enough time together to make much of a relationship (in the 11 months we were together he spend 7 of them in the falklands, 1 in gibralta and was based down in bath when he was in the country while I was home in Yorkshire) I ended up feeling very uncomfortabe with him when he came back from the Falklands, bacause I hadn't seen him for so long he was like a stranger so I had to end it as the situation was never going to change while he was in the army and I would never have asked him to leave a job he loved.

I don't think anyone here is simply pretending to not like soldiers. They just aren't interested. You get a few oddballs who will deliberatly set out to marry a soldier just the same as a fireman or millionaire but the majority of women I don't think I like that. I live close to an army base and bump into squaddies all the time at the pub and never been interested in a single one of them. I can't see what the attraction is.
