fund raising ideas please.

my 8 year old daughter was knocked off her bike nearly a month ago she was airlifted to north staffs hospital where we found she had suffered two bleeds on the brain, she is doing well now but i thought i had lost her. i can not praise the emergency services or the hospital enough and would like to raise some money to show my thanks but i need some ideas please.

1. bake and sell cakes
2. bootsales
3. sponsored walk, silence,swim
4. Hold a coffee day at your house or local hall and sell bric a brac

Hi loopy, my thought are with you and your family, a lovely gesture your making. As a suggestion, this is what I did for my daughter, some years ago, she's Autistic with some other problems, and we wanted to reise money to take her on a therapy course.

We collected Alluminium cans, but to do this, we put posters with her photo and description in newspaper shop windows, and put an ad in the free papers,

as a result, (and we didn't realise this would happen), some people sent us cheques, on terrific young man knocked on the door and said he was running the Marathon, and he'd like to do it for her. Because of the generosity of these people, we raised more than enough, so we donated the surplus money to her day centre.

Maybe you could try something similar.

Hi, would her school be willing to get involved? Then you could consider a 'Wear what you want day'. Or how about something more adventurous[sp], like a bungee jump!!

How about a disco in your local hall?? People could pay an entrance fee and you could have a bar as well.

What a fright things like this are,hope things are going well and she is well on the road to recovery, the only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is some sort of Raffle,go round local shops asking dor donations as prizes, we had a great response when we needed money for our local junior football team, thinking of you loopy, take care, Ray xx

I think it is a fine idea, and I can understand your eagerness to thank those who helped your daughter to (we pray) a full recovery, but sometimes people just feel that there are too many fund-raising things going on sometimes and they are often charitied-out so to speak.

Perhaps as an aside to the fund raising thing, you can use the experience to enhance child safety or bike riding in the area through personal experience and raise awareness of the dangers through your daughters experience (i.e. the need to wear safety equipment etc) and through your own experience it will add empathy with local parents/friends/teachers. Maybe even accompany it with a sponsored 'safe' bike ride in a park?

Whilst I understand that you want to raise money for these causes, they may also appreciate some local help in trying to prevent or minimise these things happening in the first place. Best wishes with what lies ahead.

hi tuna i can not praise the hospital enough not only did they look after my very poorly daughter but they also looked after me during the worst time off my life, even if i wanted to find fault i could not x
