3 of us at work all been on different ear candle courses. We have all been told something different, can any one tell me, when you open the candle where does the wax (if any) come from? The Ear? The Candle? Both?

Take an ear candle. Poke it into an inanimate hole (!) a hole in a block of wood, or maybe a potato. Light it, and behold, the wood/potato has produced wax (?) from it's ear (?)

No, the wax comes from the candle, not the ear. Hocus pocus. Having said this i have had my ears 'done' with candles and it felt good, for whatever reason. I don't mind what the truth is.
