im waiting for my sisters to phone me and call me back to sunderland to be with my mother as she dies. the radiotherapy that cured the cancer caused her to suffer a perforated bowel. they cannot operate [age] and have told us all that me mam wont be leaving hospital, they will not give her aggresive resussitation if her heart stops. now my sisters who i left with her on sunday have been told that they should stay in sunderland rather than follow me back to devon. i dont know what to do, im dying inside and i have the job of breaking the news to my kids yet
jeez i knew it was coming but its hard to roll with this blow. im alright tho , grown men dont cry eh soppy tw@t [laughing now]
Sorry dilf - I hope that, for everyone's sake, things progress as quickly and as comfortably as possible.
I have to contradict you though as Mr L says that real men are the ones that cry!
If my son doesn't cry when I go, I will be mortified.
Don't hide your emotions away . xx
So sorry about your mum, that is sad news, but if you feel like crying dilf, for christs sake cry mate, cry so much it hurts, you can't hold it in,when my mum died 3 years ago I cried, I still cry,I am a bloke and I don't care what anyone says or thinks, you love your mum,if I was you mate I would turn round and get back up North, follow your heart dilf, thinking of you, Ray
So sorry to hear about the situation you are in. It's such an upsetting time to go through, but as others have all said don't try and hold all your emotions in - cry all you want, and forget about the 'men don't cry 'rubbish!
Pour your heart out, scream at the moon, cry until your eyes get all red and puffy.... hell put a face mask on and curl up with a box of chocolates and a Mills and Boon Dilf, none of it makes you less of a man or in any way soppy.
You're going through a horrid time and you let it out any way that you see fit.
dilf....... im so sorry to hear your news today, you do what you feel like doing , you know men are allowed to show their emotions , be well and take care my best wishes to you and your family.
dilf i was in a very simailair situation not so long ago so i really do know how you feel, cry as much as you need to its called being human, all the best
Terribly, terribly sorry. Be honest with the kids, and tell them how much they are loved. I don't know how old they are, but when my Grandpa died (I was 7) and Grandma (10) Dad said I could chose something from their house and buy something new to remember them by. It sounds mercenary, but I still have all four things 25 years later, and I can't remember being told they had gone. I just remember missing them.
I suspect the heading refers to those who wish cancer on others as a light insult, but I am happy to be proved wrong
Dilf, as has been said, you can cry as much as you want....it wont make you any less of a man! In fact I like a man able to cry and show emotion. A man with no emotion has no heart! So do what you feel like.x
My love to to you and your family and my special wishes to your Mam . XXX
Deal with your feelings and grieve in whatever way helps you cope best, if that's crying then cry all you need to.
Just make sure you give yourself the time and space to deal with your feelings and make sure you look after yourself and have people around you looking after you too.
Of course grown men can cry. You are normal human beings like everybody else and we all share the same emotions for those we love.
Saying farewell to our parents is heart-breakingly hard and the pain cannot be avoided. It is sadly, the price we pay for all those years of love and support. Share the news with your children and cry together. They will not think less of you and they too need to know that it is OK to cry. I hope that your mother's passing will be peaceful and that the support you receive from your family will ease you through your grief.
