Octavious I have never understood why blokes find school uniform sexy, it just seems a bit paedophile to me. I liked my school uniform and still wish I had a uniform for work as I get fed up with having to find things to wear in the morning.
I always hated it as a kid, even more so in my teens but the moment my little boy went to school last year, I couldnt get over how smart and cute he looked.
I like to see school uniform, but I would like to see it worn properly. Half the youngers I see, have shirts hanging out. Ties half mast. I can't say they look particularly smart.
4getmenot, I had originally added that I like to see children going to school in uniform - as it looks neater, tidier and more .... professional(?)
But I deleted that line for the very reason you state, what with being a bloke and all.
Although there is an element of truth in what you say, assuming that every man always sees uniforms in a sexual way - even school uniforms - is rather insular.
At my upper school we had an 'optional' school uniform - which of course, apart from the first day, no one wore.
I think uniforms are a good thing because it is one less thing you can be bullied for.
i do think that they should eliminate shirts and ties in favour of polo shirts with blazers.
My daughter is only allowed to wear a polo shirt during the summer term which means that for the rest of the year the teachers seem to spend a lot of time telling kids to do their top button up or do their tie up properly.
Wearing polo shirts all year round would surely be less hassle for the kids and the teachers.
Sorry to go on but i just think there are more important things for schools to be worrying about!!
yer I know and I wasnt calling you a peodo for saying it, I've just never understood the fascination. But I know what you mean about young children looking tidy so dont worry that you might come across as pervy by saying that. :)
I think it would be a great idea for teachers to wear uniforms as well, Cords, tweed jackets with leather patches on the elbows and similar for the men and also maybe somekind of tall pointy hat.
I've always been in favour of it, both when I was at school and now, as a student teacher. There was an interesting article in the TES last week arguing against it, but I don't think any of the arguments really held water. other than the cost of uniforms which some families can't afford. It instills a sense of discipline, uniformity, school pride and pride in appearance that would be otherwise lost.
I have a feeling Wardy will answer and say he likes it more now he is older but for different reasons!
I don't think there is anything paedophile about a man liking an adult woman wearing a school uniform... its not like he is saying he wants to see a school girl in the uniform.. thats when its worrying! But its the short skirt and the innocence of the outfit!
i hated uniform at school but now im older i do like to see all the students of my ex school looking smart as they go to school.
I still have an image in my head of 4getmenot going to school with a blonde bob haircut, chubby legs and rosy cheeks in her tiny school uniform and boater at the age of 4. She was so small and cute.
Compulsory at my school, and I can why they attached so much importance to it. Whenever the renegade pupil appeared out of uniform, all the other girls in the class spent time discussing her skirt/blouse/dress instead of paying attention to the teacher! Teachers were always smartly dressed, never casual.
Well done for getting your spellings correct on your second attempt (also posted in Arts & Lit) Your teachers would be proud of you!!!
I prefer school colours to uniform, i.e. a more relaxed approach with some room for self expression and comfort. With some guidence as to what is appropriate.
I think ties are not only pointless but positivly dangerous, as anyone who has suffered at the hands of school bullies will agree.
By the way I can't spell either, but then I don't claim to be a teacher!!
