Apparently you are supposed to walk 10,000 steps a day for a healthier life, but does anyone know roughly how far that is in miles?

Thanks in advance!

Oooh I was having this same conversation today with a lady at work! She wore a pedometer and found out she does 11,000 steps a day! Not bad! I reckon I do about 10....... 10 steps... not 10,000!
It would depend how long your legs are!! lol
I think its about 5 miles
Each step equals a yard there a 1760 yards in a mile so 10,000 devided by 1760 thats about 5 .6 miles.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to acheive. It's 36 steps from my sofa to my kettle. 34 to my fridge. 50 to the car etc.

Thanks everyone! I've got a pedometer but it registers that I'm taking steps while I'm sitting at my desk, lol.
I found a flaw in the pedometer system. The other week I decided to see what would happen if I walked backwards for a day. My pedometer went into negative numbers and I put on a stone. :o(
lol
As has already been said, approx 5 miles, put on your walking boots, and do it in an hour, no running, just walking, work up a nice sweat as well.
