Deep Heat to deter muggers?
11 Answers
I'm not sure where to post this question - i've heard that having a can of Deep Heat spray in your handbag for detering muggers is as effective as pepper spray. In theory it sounds like it would be flipin' painful to have it sprayed in your eyes and burn your face. has anyone else heard this? im hoping nobody has had first-hand experience of it... As pepepr and Mace is illigal for us to carry would it be a more affective self-defence weapon than the deodorant im carrying? All im likely to do with that is make the attacker smell nice...
thx

I would think that any aerosol can that says "do not inhale/spray in eyes" would be effective but I think if you used it then you might be breaking the law.
Go straight for the goolies with a swift knee jerk reaction - it works wonders everytime.

surely it would be classed as a weapon unless you could explain to police why you were carrying deap heat in your bag or your pocket.
Of course if you just happened to have your car keys in your hand and accidently gouged the attackers eye as you pushed them away then that would not be classed as a weapon.

i could explain that i was just in the process of spraying my recent wrist injury when i was attacked! I wouldnt normally be worried but there have been reports of a few muggings in the area recently by a gang of youths. while i feel quite confident taking on one kid (or two if i've had a couple of drinks) a whole load of them scares me a bit. Im happy to run the risk of being counter-sued as long as i get to keep my handbag...
