Right mouse click on "my computer" select properties, hardware, device manager, check that audio device had correct drivers installed and is not disabled.
The Technology and Science section has a subsection for computers.

Ive tried that Mattie. It says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."

When I try to reinstall it wont do it. It goes thru a wizard and Says CANNOT INSTALL HARDWARE
Any other ideas?
You need to identify the audio chipset and download and install the correct drivers, unless it is built into the motherboard and you still have the motherboard cd.

You can also go to www.driverguide.com and install the driver guide toolkit, which can identify unknown devices.
