I've been on the pill for 7 years now without a break!! Last time I went to docs he said have I thought about going on a break to let my body have a rest. I asked him if it was dangerous not to and he said there is no evidence to suggest that its bad to stay on it but it is good just to let your body have a natural period once in a while. So I guess its just up to the individual!!
I'm gonna have a break soon I think. I just love knowing exactly when my period is coming!!

There is no need for your body to have a break from the pill (unless you're experiencing a problem of course). Likewise, there is no evidence that the pill affects a woman's 'normal' long term fertility. When I say 'normal', I mean what is 'normal' for that particular individual. Some women will take longer than others to conceive due to a physical problem that might need medical intervention or due to an external factor such as stress, smoking, alcohol or being overweight etc. Any method of contraception will 'mask' these problems to the extent that if you are not trying to get pregnant, you don't know a problem exists! I know plenty of women in their 30s who have been on the pill for well over 10 years and who had no trouble conceiving.
