Hair Dye Disaster

After 14 years of dyeing my hair I have finally made a huge faux pas. I've dyed my hair dark brown, not the first time but the dye I've used this time has stained my skin despite immediate use of soap and water, does anyone have any ideas on how I could shift it? I was thinking lemon juice and lots of grainy scrubs.

Nail polish Remover works failing that try white spirits it stinks but it does work.

This happened to me a few years ago, and when I phoned L'oreal (or whoever it was) they said that the best way to get rid of it is to scrub the area with moistened cigarette ash. Sounds weird, but worked first time. Strangely enough, I've not dyed my hair since...

Thanks so much Anushika, tried the nail varnish remover straight away and it's made a huge difference already, my right hand is only pale brown instead of dark brown, thankfully I don't have to be at work until Wednesday. Shybearuk, gave you the stars for the novelty value alone, cigarette ash? This is the first time I've used this particular brand and I think it's going to be the last, I have never, ever had this happen to me before and I am not keen to repeat the experience.

so are you going to be nicking a full ashtray from the local pub forggie? would love to know if it works :-)

I haven't heard of cigarette ash being used for this purpose before but seeing that Ash is a mild abrasive it makes sense. If you mix Ash with a little oil it will take any white rings out of wood.

I was thinking of being much bolder then that myself treaclefight and smoking a pack myself but I admit I would love to see the faces of the bar staff as I tried to make off with a full ashtray

Body shop exfoliating facial scrub is good for this...but i usually don't have that much problem getting rid of the stains afterwards!

Normally, I don't have this problem either, I've dyed my hair dark brown dozens of times, but maybe it's just this particular brand. The colour has turned out lovely on my hair, it's not particularly lovely on the palm of my right hand, everybody I know think it's hilarious.

Froggequene - My missus is a hairdresser and regularly has the same prob. The best solution ['specially as you're happy with the product result] get yourself some disposable gloves, they're fairly cheap - try Boots, or a Hair salon supplier like "Sally's"

go to a beauty supply store in your area. They sell wipes that are supposed to remedy this problem. All else fails? Use oxiclean.I know it sounds ridiculous,but it gets out just about any stain,just dont get it near your eyes!
