Hi, somewhere in the region of 550 to 1000 for a basic MRI scan, probably depends on where you live and how extensive the scan needs to be though. Try BUPA as a starting point.
Hi Nat. My boyfriend went privately and it cost him 1300. He tried to claim it back on his insurance and they said they wouldn't pay because he didn't have an overnight stay in hospital!! (which wasn't required)
If you want to go private and claim back, just make sure you know precisely what you're doing beforehand!
I had one done on my brain and having the scan itself was ok. It can get a bit claustrophobic and is quite loud (banging noises) but it's not for too long :)
Nat_84. If you dont like the idea of an MRI there are "Open scanner's" where you would lie on a large table like bed while the scanner goes over your body from above.
hey, ive already had my left knee ACL reconstructed a few years ago, but i didnt have an MRI, i had an arthoscopy in order for them to suss out the problem.
Now i was originally told i had possibly strained my medial ligaments - in my RIGHT knee this time. Through manipulation today i didnt feel any tenderness, but my knee clicks and cracks and hurts when i go upstairs - so he called for an MRI scan...
Best thing to do is book a holiday to thailand for one week probably 5-600 pounds and book a private scan about150 at sukhumvit hospital Bangkok 10110 ,and it will just be like getting a free holiday because the total price of the holiday and the scan would be no more than 800 in fact you would probably get your op very cheap as well, and i would recommend this hospital to anyone (been there) total state of the art 5*,and puts most british hospitals to shame
